Weeeelll... thanks, but this doesn't do anything close to what I need.

A translated path is not the same as a parallel offset of a path, or one clipped to left or right. NSShadow (apart from being a total performance killer) is also just a translation, albeit a blurred one.

The concept of left/right of a path is clearly much different from a fixed x,y displacement.
