You might consider using our Open Source framework for doing this. See
<http://www.coriolis-systems.com/opensource>.
It has plugins for Entourage and Eudora as well as built-in support
for Mail.app.
You can find out the default mail handler by checking with launch
services to see what handles the mailto URL scheme.
