Are you just double-clicking the projects in /Developer/Examples and
trying to build them? You need to drag the folder containing a
project you want to build somewhere else first, since the /Developer
hierarchy has read-only file permissions.
For me, setting a separate build directory in Preferences -> Building
also works.
