Just don't propagate it.
This is what the NSResponder implementation of -mouseDown: looks like:
- (void)mouseDown:(NSEvent *)theEvent
{
[[self nextResponder] mouseDown:theEvent];
}
All you have to do is *not* do that line, and *not* call super's implementation.
