If you never unbind, you're probably just seeing the KVO bookkeeping taking place.

Alternatively, you're calling super's implementation of - bind:toObject:withKeyPath:options: from within your own, but not calling super's implementation of unbind:. Due to KVB's (and KVO's) pretty poor API design, correctly dealing with superclass observers is impossible. If your class implements a certain binding, it should not allow super to do so as well.
