The class NSRunningApplication only exists on 10.6 and later. Are you doing a runtime check before using it?

Class nsRunningAppClass = NSClassFromString(@"NSRunningApplication");

if (nsRunningAppClass != NULL)
{
        // 10.6 case...
NSRunningApplication* currentApplication = [nsRunningAppClass currentApplication];
        ...
}
else
{
        // 10.5 case...
}
