Hmm. On my 10.7.2 installation, when I switched back to TextEdit, it did not reflect the modifications from Xcode, the titlebar said "Locked", and when I tried to make a change it popped up a sheet saying "You don't have permission to modify this file. [Cancel] [Duplicate]". Don't know if this is a bug in TextEdit or the OS, but it's certainly not what's supposed to be happening.
