Yes, I see what you mean, and I agree it would make sense.  The problem is that 
Mac OS X now has two security systems that appear to be pretty much orthogonal; 
the old POSIX permissions, and the new sandboxing.  The challenge we discussed 
in this thread is with POSIX.
