This looks like a combination of the Emacs-Lisp documentation system,
which has hyperlinks to function name documentations, Emacs' VM and
GNUS conventions of emphasizing text (_, * and others), and Perl's
POD, the text documentation format used by Perl. And of course TeX ;-)

Nevertheless a nice combination!
