Nope.  We intend to support Solaris with our application out of the box,
and then after we get problems like this worked out, Linux and FreeBSD.

Yep, going to a 1.4 JDK with our cocoon-based application would be a
huge headache at the current time, especially since 1.4 is even more
alpha quality under FreeBSD than 1.3.1 is (that and API's changing /
being deprecated & the jsse stuff changing -- I cringe at the day we
move to 1.4!)

Since we've verified that there *IS* a problem with something, can one
of the cocoon/excalibur guys respond to this and give a possible
workaround or analyze this and see if it is a non-trivial fix?  If it is
non-trivial, then just tell us all to piss off and use a OS that the jdk
is 'officially' supported on. :-D
