The file bin/ant was from the ANT distribution, but it was
modified locally in the Cocoon CVS.

The change fixed a segfault which occurred when compiling Cocoon
under Linux with jdk 1.3.1 (which was fixed in 1.3.1_01).

The if/else test was added (IIRC) because the classic java compiler
was not available under OSX. This was only added to the Cocoon version
of the file, and isn't in the ANT version.

Upgrading would be the other option, either way the bin/ant file
needs to be fixed/replaced, as it currently fails under Solaris.

        1.4.1 is listed as a bugfix release over 1.4 - perhaps it's a
good idea update ANT in trunk and apply the patch in
        cocoon_20_branch ?

What does everyone else think ?

        Cheers,

        Marcus
