If your web page is standards-conformant but looks terrible in old browser while others are looking good, then BOTH your page and that browser are wrong. That is more useful for you, to make you page more accessible, or to sacrifice part of your audience in an attempt to make world better (or lower costs) ? This is the only one real question.
