Batik itself may work, but many awt derivatives fail - certainly on the
beta 1.4 I have. This also seems part of the 'headless' java spec - which
is still not as complete a solution as pja, as far as I can see.

Subject: [RFE] Batik works again with Java 1.4.0

Hello all,

could someone with sufficient rights build a new batik-libs-1.1.1.jar
from the batik CVS and upgrade/replace the batik library in the cocoon
CVS with this new library ? Due to a tiny AWT semantics-related bug,
Batik did not produce JPEG images correctly under Java 1.4.0 whenever a
background color was specified; as the constructor of SVGSerializer set
such a hint, the bug showed up and prevented the hello.svg sample on the
Cocoon main page to work when using the newest JDK.

As the bug http://nagoya.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=6775 has
been resolved in CVS and I tested it to work fine with the current
version of Cocoon in CVS, an upgrade of the batik lib would re-enable
the svg2jpg serializer and the hello.svg sample under Java 1.4.0.

Best regards,
