I found that ScriptGenerator in the org.apache.cocoon.generation
package is doing something odd. After running the hello.js example
it appears that the system does not release the hello.js file. If
I try to rename it, I get "Cannot rename Hello: there has been
a sharing violation. The source or destination file may be in use."

Apparently this is a read-only connection because I can re-write
the file with different content, access hello.js again, and see
the new content.
