ok,  this was a stupid class path error.  I am now upgrading to 2.0.2 (i have been using 2.0.0) and having more problems.  I will post under a different subject.

Something is wrong here, are you sure you have Cocoon 2.0.2? What's in
your copy of source code on line 101?
