I agree that there would be benefits from Turbine services being Avalonized. These benefits are mainly for other applications that would be able to make use of the code.
There is a benefit to the Turbine user base of having more people using the various services. This benefit would be in the form of better tested code. It could *possibly* also appear in the form of more contributions to the code base due to the wider acceptance. Right now, I am more concerned about focusing on the needs of the current users base. It is not that I don't care about the Turbine services being portable to other projects. That would be a very good thing. It turns into a bad thing very quickly if we start to run off ANY of our current developers or users. If some of the committers want to work on this in a separate branch, I see nothing wrong with it. It is simply an experiment and we can see where it goes. > -----Original Message----- > From: Nicola Ken Barozzi [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] > Sent: Tuesday, January 14, 2003 4:23 AM > To: James Developers List > Cc: Turbine Developers List; cocoon-dev > Subject: [Jam3s][RT] Turbine for User Repository? > > > > - crosspost, please keep CCed -- > > Some thoughts... > > Many Apache Java projects have their own user repository and > authentication-authorization system, and this sucks. > Turbine has its own services about this. > Turbine is being Avalonized. > > James has it's on system. > James uses Avalon. > James could use Turbine services for this. > > Cocoon has it's own system. > Cocoon uses Avalon. > Cocoon could use Turbine services for this. > > XXX has it's own system. > XXX uses Avalon. > XXX could use Turbine services for this. > > Thoughts? > > -- > Nicola Ken Barozzi [EMAIL PROTECTED] > - verba volant, scripta manent - > (discussions get forgotten, just code remains) > --------------------------------------------------------------------- > > > -- > To unsubscribe, e-mail: > <mailto:turbine-dev-> [EMAIL PROTECTED]> > For > additional commands, > e-mail: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > > --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, email: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
