I posted some info a while back on the cocoon-users list that shows you how to use log4j with cocoon. It requires a more recent nightly build of some of the avalon packages, but it is working quite well for me. If you can't find it in the archives, I'd be glad to show you what I've done.

Robert, you already *can* use your favorite logger package (jdk1.4, log4j or "native" logkit) with cocoon. (I haven't tried yet - but it is supposed to work) No idea what features you are missing though.
