HSQLDB is a very critical and unstable part of Cocoon2. So, the best way to solve all the problems which could happen with hsqldb (No more DTM IDs available) can be solved with commenting out the hsqldb-part of cocoon.xconf.
1. To do this, open the file "cocoon.xconf" which you can find at "$TOMCAT_HOME/webapps/cocoon/cocoon.xconf". 2. Search for "<hsqldb-server>" 3. comment out the whole "<hsqldb-server>"-block (be careful ! don't make recursive comments [comments inside comments] ! it wont work) 4. After that, restart Tomcat, and in future you will have less problems with Cocoon2/Tomcat3/4 etc. I hope, I can help some people with this.
