Hi everyone, I just wanted to announce the first beta of the POI project has been released (12/24/01). This edition includes the pure java port of Microsoft's OLE 2 Compound Document format (POIFS), a pure java port of Microsoft's Excel (XLS) file format (HSSF), and an XLS Serializer (HSSFSerializer) as well as documentation and examples on how to set it up and use it with Cocoon 2. We build on the examples distributed with Cocoon 2 so that everyone can try them "out of the box" (takes under two minutes to set up).
