I did it once with Cocoon 1.8. It works but don't expect high figures: we are working on it, but as of now there is almost no way to cleverly work on the "Expires" headers so that a proxy can really cache content since it's always flagged as expired. Basically you'll see a noticeable performance inmprovement due to the optimization of network communication. Anyway I'd consider using Squid for better performance.
