Michael,
you can just aggregate without trasnforming (though you MUST serialize after
aggregating).
Moreover, you can aggregate the results of other pipelines, like in:

<map:part src="cocoon:/form-emptylog.xml"
element="form-emptylog"/>
</map:aggregate>
