hi GD, If you want to get a good idea about i18n, go to the welcome page of your cocoon(after cocoon installation, go to the url, http://localhost:8080/cocoon), you have a title Internationalization.Click the link and explore.Also in your cocoon directory you will have a folder i18n, explore that too.
In your case you should have messages.xml(for english) and messages_fr (for french).In the browser go to the menu Extras-Internet options-Language-Choose French and bring the French language above all the other languages and click OK button.Your pages will have all the messages in French.
