Hi, Given your questions, I wonder if cocoon is necessary, and in fact, your expectations. Cocoon s overkill for many things people use it for... Why do you want to publish to a binary format? Why not simple HTML? Wouldn't that give your users more/better access to your information?
What you are asking for is pretty simple. In fact, I would give free access to hiking groups (especially those documenting the PCT, CDT, AT). If there are similar things in Europe (given your name) I would support that too. I would probably write the stylesheets if your trail is long (not interested in short hikes).
