o off-line rebuild with norton-reinit -dump/-restore.
+ user can restore the identical dumpfile with the old norton to
migrate back.
+ server RVM will be as fresh as possible with minimal
fragmentation.
- have to purge backup volumes.
This seems best; I want data migration and little pain, but I don't
mind downtime to do it. I have important data, but I don't have a
horde of users and 'no coda saturday' is fine, really. But, I've
always been unclear about dump/restore. I would like to be able to
restore and create a volume, possibly replicated, that was just like
the one I dumped. But, if it isn't too much manual work that's
probably good enough; my server is so ancient (I think I started in
1998 or 1999) that it could use with a clean start.
A further question is whether the dump/restore changes volume ids and
fids; if so it forces a reinit of all venii that have dealt with this
server. So it might be nice to make dump/restore spiffier.
