It's probably a bit hard to check (with a binary distro), but could this
be the following problem: http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58702

A summary:
- Coda uses lwp, lwp creates rather small stacks for the processes
- If coda uses a glibc compiled with 2.6.x kernel headers and gcc 3.4
it needs 9K+ of stack for a call to vfprintf, which is more than
  is available
*kaboom*

This may not be the same thing, but I'd hate to see people go through
the same debugging twice.

Maurice.
