the relation of /vicepa and volumes

Hello,
after reading the available documentation, i still have 
a problem understanding the relation of a volume and the
data-partition (/vicepa). 

The question is: can more than one volume use the same data
partition? 

Like: 

#>createvol_rep root E0000100 /vicepa  
#>createvol_rep s.project E0000100 /vicepa

But is this dangerous or not?
