venus: can't find root volume name

Hi,
  venus works fine for local hosts (redhat 6.2) and for remote hosts i get
message "can't find root volume name"
If i assign rootvolume in venus.conf for remote client , i get "can't find
volinfo for root name"
I checked /etc/services of both client and server.
