The Mount Library invites applications for a full-time, probationary position 
at the rank of Librarian I commencing as soon as possible.

Reporting to the University Librarian, the successful candidate will ensure a 
high level of service in their liaison areas, creatively assess the needs of 
the Library’s user community, and advocate for an exceptional user experience 
across all platforms of the Library’s digital services and resources. The 
successful candidate will be a member of several departmental teams including 
library management, research services, and web & content management. 
Responsibilities include serving as the Liaison Librarian for the Faculty of 
Education and Department of Child & Youth Study, as well as the User Experience 
& Engagement Librarian. As part of their workload, the successful candidate 
will teach the credit course Introduction to Research in the Information Age 
once per year. Workload also includes responsibilities in the areas of 
scholarly and/or professional activity and internal and external collegial 
service.

The following qualifications are required of the position:

  *   an ALA-accredited Master of Library Science (or equivalent);
  *   experience with reference services (preferably in an academic library 
environment);
  *   excellent oral and written communication skills;
  *   knowledge of project management and a history of team-based collaboration;
  *   strong technological and analytical skills;
  *   experience with current and emerging web and mobile technologies;
  *   web design/development skills (e.g. XML/XSLT, HTML/CSS, PHP/MySQL, 
Python, Javascript, APIs, LTI); and
  *   knowledge of discovery tools and digital repository/asset management 
platforms (e.g. DSpace, Islandora, AtoM).
Experience in the following areas would be considered an asset:

  *   background in the disciplines of education and/or child & youth studies;
  *   credit or non-credit teaching, library instruction, or library 
orientation;
  *   familiarity with accessibility requirements of web-based content;
  *   usability and other assessment experience;
  *   knowledge of user-centred design trends; and
  *   understanding of open source software.
