This is a great opportunity for an experienced, creative, and service-oriented 
Metadata and Digital Services Librarian. The Health Sciences Library is an 
all-electronic library that serves the diverse needs of clinicians, 
researchers, residents, faculty, and students in a variety of health 
disciplines. The main charge of this position is to make library and 
information resources more discoverable, thereby facilitating and maximizing 
the use of information resources. This includes using metadata to create linked 
data within catalog records, exploring data management initiatives for the 
campus, and migrating the library faculty research portal from an open-source 
platform called BibApp to VIVO.  The Metadata and Digital Services Librarian 
serves as an integral part of the library services team, providing reference 
and instruction to the Health Sciences Campus, and will be a vital member to 
the library website committee.
Minimum Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience performing copy and original cataloging of electronic 
resources
Working knowledge of metadata standards and practices, such as MARC, Dublin 
Core, EAD, METS, and/or MODS

Working knowledge of metadata tools and systems for creating, editing, and 
transforming metadata, such as XML, XSLT, Oxygen, MarcEdit, and/or OpenRefine

Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and be able to work creatively, 
collaboratively, and effectively both independently and as a team member or 
leader
Aptitude for complex, analytical work with an attention to detail
Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage 
multiple priorities and competing deadlines
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills
Strong service orientation
Preferred Qualifications
Working knowledge of Python, SPARQL, and an interest and aptitude for learning 
new languages
Working knowledge of Ex Libris Alma and Primo ILS
Experience with Medical Subject Headings
2+ years with original cataloging and metadata creation experience in an 
academic library within the last five years
