Join us for an introduction to Software 
Carpentry<https://software-carpentry.org/> for librarians by Cam Macdonell and 
Clara Llebot Lorente. The rise of carpentry workshops in academic libraries 
comes out of scientists long standing need to effectively adopt and apply 
computing skills to their research practices. Assistant Professor Cam Macdonell 
will orient us to the rise of carpentry education, how librarians can get 
involved, and carpentry communities' future directions. Data Management 
Specialist Clara Llebot Lorente will discuss how she applies carpentry in her 
credit graduate course, during professional consultations, and in projects with 
university partners.

About Cam Macdonell

Cam Macdonell is an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science 
at MacEwan University in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. His involvement with 
Software Carpentry began in 2009 as an assistant. In 2013 he completed 
instructor training and since then he has been an instructor for 9 bootcamps, 6 
for Software Carpentry and 3 for Data Carpentry.


About Clara Llebot Lorente

Data Management Specialist at Oregon State University Libraries, Clara Llebot 
Lorente, has been an instructor for Library Carpentry since 2016. She has 
participated in 2 library carpentry and 1 Data Carpentry workshops and applies 
carpentries curriculum to her research data services work. Clara is recently 
certified as a lesson maintainer and she will be participating in the Spanish 
software carpentry lessons maintenance.
