Yes metadata can be used to ameliorate algorithmic bias, but much of our 
metadata includes its own sets of biases. Just as importantly, library 
collections are full of biases. Neither are as objective as we usually make 
them out to be. Such is a dirty little library secret, and such is what has 
happened with the advent of the Internet. Centralized authorities, like 
libraries, are not as necessary nor as authoritative as they used to be. --ELM
