are forming a new Digital Team, a partnership between the Library and 
Technology and Information Services, that includes resources in conservation, 
cataloging and metadata, imaging, project management, and digital asset

The Digital Projects Manager will play a central role in building The 
Huntington's digital library by planning, implementing, and managing digital 
imaging projects to create digital library resources, including the production, 
ingest, and maintenance of digital objects and metadata. Will also assist with 
the analysis and migration of existing digital collections. Works closely with 
imaging and preservation staff, curators, librarians, and archivists. The 
successful candidate will have experience in project management, workflow 
design, budgets, metadata schemas, library best practices, and use of special 
collections. Reports to the Digital Repository Manager.

Essential Functions

Coordinate or help to coordinate activities across multiple departments for 
multiple digital projects, including materials assessment, conservation 
treatment, and digital imaging, ensuring that project budgets, schedules, and 
production goals are met
Assist in the preparation of project proposals and the formulation of project 
budgets and workplans, maintain necessary project documentation, and produce 
reports
Assist in troubleshooting project processes and workflows and in resolving 
problems
Assists with the analysis, enhancement, conversion, and migration of existing 
digital assets and associated metadata
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required:

Master’s degree in Library Science or equivalent advanced degree, preferably 
with an archives or special collections concentration; or equivalent education 
or work experience
Demonstrated knowledge of digital project management and the lifecycle of 
digital assets including creation, ingest, storage, discovery, access, 
publication and preservation
Excellent project management skills including accuracy, attention to detail, 
and the ability to adhere to schedules and meet deadlines and budgets
Knowledge of metadata standards, ontologies and controlled vocabularies for 
describing digital objects and library collections
Knowledge of XML, JSON, and SQL, and digital library applications such as 
CONTENTdm
Command of standard computer office and database applications such as Microsoft 
Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and FileMaker Pro
Collaborative and collegial attitude and ability to work productively with 
diverse stakeholders in a team-oriented environment
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills

Experience

Required:

Two to three years’ experience, or combined education/experience, with digital 
projects and workflows in a research library or a cultural institution 
environment
Experience with project management, workflow design, assessment and project 
improvement

Strongly Preferred:

Experience working with library special collections materials
Knowledge of library and/or museum preservation and conservation concerns
Experience costing projects and managing budgets
