Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno seeks applications for a Project Manager, 
Library Systems Migration to lead a team planning and transitioning to Ex 
Libris’ Alma/Primo from Innovative Interfaces’ Sierra. This project is a major 
effort for the University of Nevada, Reno Libraries and will be a cooperative 
effort with involvement of library staff from all areas of the library, 
especially Technical Services and Access Services, and will require regular 
communication with the system vendor and library units. The project will 
involve a massive data migration, complex system configuration, revamping of 
many library workflows, and a comprehensive communications and training program 
for Library staff. The Project Manager will report to the Assistant Dean for 
Collections and Technical Services. Also, the Project Manager will be dedicated 
full-time to the project and will play a key role in project communications, 
scheduling and coordination of efforts across the Libraries and liaising with 
Campus IT units and the other Nevada System of Higher Education institutions 
who currently share a system with University of Nevada. The scope of the work 
will include early project planning, communications, and coordination through 
migration and cut over, and post cut over refinement and problem resolution.The 
candidate is expected to have knowledge of all record types within an 
Integrated Library System and have strong project management and organizational 
methodologies. Due to the wide-reaching nature of integrated library systems, 
the project manager will need to have well-developed interpersonal skills, 
being able to communicate complex functions and processes, lead groups to 
consensus, and collaborate effectively.  This is a two-year administrative 
faculty position. The anticipated start date is January 2020.  

 

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and four (4) years of professional experience or a Master’s 
degree and two (2) years of related professional work experience.  

 

Related experience  

Experience with the use and application of integrated library systems 

Experience with and extensive knowledge of the Sierra ILS 

Knowledge of Library Discovery layers 

 
Preferred Qualifications

Previous ILS migration experience 

Experience working in Ex Libris’ Alma and/or Primo 

Experience with back-end functionality in an ILS (configuring loan rules, 
import tables, etc.)
