Under the direction of the Dean of the Library, this non-tenure track faculty 
member serves as part of a highly collaborative team of librarians. The 
Research, Instruction and Digital Humanities Librarian will have an opportunity 
to develop services in a changing and evolving organization. The Research, 
Instruction and Digital Humanities Librarian collaborates with a team of 
librarians in delivering research and instruction services while providing 
leadership and expertise in services supporting digital humanities/scholarship, 
data services, scholarly communications and technology-based research. This 
librarian will work collaboratively with faculty, students, staff and fellow 
librarians on established digital projects (https://dss.ncf.edu/) and support 
new digital projects and provide expert instruction in digital research methods 
and technologies in all disciplines. In collaboration with other librarians, 
the incumbent will deliver contemporary services in support of cutting-edge 
approaches in instruction, research and outreach. The incumbent will 
participate in collection development in assigned areas, liaising with assigned 
subject faculty, and lead/participate in library- sponsored events and 
exhibits. This position may also provide outreach to non-academic units to 
develop events and services that promote Cook Library, supervise staff and 
students as required, and perform other duties/functions as requested. 
Responsibilities of the position evolve as the library environment continues to 
change. All librarians are expected to make contributions to the profession, 
provide service to the campus and broader professional community (e.g. 
statewide/regional/local committees and organizations), and embrace innovation 
and change. Under the direction of the Dean of the Library, and in 
collaboration with other librarians and staff, the Research, Instruction and 
Digital Humanities Librarian will participate in long-range planning and 
development and assessment of programs, resources, services, and policies.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

·         High level knowledge of current and emerging trends in digital 
humanities/scholarship.

·         Demonstrated ability to use Digital Humanities tools and programs 
such as Python, R, XML, Tableau, Visual Eyes, Omeka, ArcGIS/StoryMaps, 
Articulate Storyline , etc.

·         Demonstrated understanding of computational methods of analysis used 
in the digital humanities, for example, text mining, natural language 
processing, topic modeling, social network analysis, data mining, mapping, and 
visualization

·         Experience with Canvas or another Learning Management System.

·         Experience in administering digital technologies and information 
systems.

·         ALA accredited MLS/MLIS

 

Preferred Qualifications:

·         Experience with outreach and service development in an academic 
library setting

·         Experience working on and contributing to open source software 
projects

·         Experience working with faculty and students
