With the support of Wikimedia NYC, the Museum of Reclaimed Urban Space 
<http://morusnyc.org/> is hosting three consecutive roundtables for librarians, 
archivists and educators to discuss the hows and whys of hosting an edit-a-thon 
in order to find out what Wikimedia NYC can do to make Wikipedia’s open source 
materials even more openly available.. Roundtables are free and open to the 
public.

A Roundtable for Librarians on Wikipedia Edit-a-thons
Tuesday, June 22nd @ 4 pm [PAST!]
Are you a librarian? Your ability to locate, evaluate & synthesize multiple 
source materials, locate credible information makes you uniquely qualified to 
host a Wikipedia edit-a-thon. A portmanteau of “edit” and “marathon” an 
edit-a-thon is an event where people gather to edit Wikipedia to improve a 
specific topic or type of content.  Join a Museum of Reclaimed Urban 
Space-hosted roundtable for NYC librarians interested in the role of Wikipedia 
in the open knowledge movement. Speak to other librarians about if, how, when 
(and for whom!) to hold an edit-a-thon. Learn best practices for helping your

subject matter expertise makes you uniquely qualified to host a Wikipedia 
edit-a-thon. A portmanteau of “edit” and “marathon” an edit-a-thon is an event 
where people gather to edit Wikipedia to improve a specific topic or type of 
content.  Join a Museum of Reclaimed Urban Space-hosted roundtable  for NYC 
archivists interested in role of Wikipedia in the open knowledge movement. 
Speak to other archivists about if, how, when (and for whom!) to hold an 
edit-a-thon. Learn about the different kinds of Creative Commons licenses to
