Rice University is seeking a dynamic, service-oriented Senior Electronic 
Resources Librarian. The successful candidate will provide leadership on all 
aspects of electronic resources acquisitions and management functions. This 
position reports to the Head of Acquisitions in the Technical Services Division.

Responsibilities: The Senior Electronic Resources Librarian develops and 
maintains policies and procedures and oversees the lifecycle of electronic 
resources, including databases, e-books, serials, and streaming media. Specific 
areas of responsibility related to these resources includes acquisitions, 
license review, access management, records maintenance, product trials, and 
EZProxy management. The Senior Electronic Resources Librarian supervises and 
evaluates three FTE staff members, including one librarian, and works closely 
with vendors, IT staff, collection development librarians, cataloging staff, 
faculty, and students.


Required Qualifications: 

• ALA-accredited master’s degree in library or information science;

• Three years of experience managing electronic resources in an academic 
setting;

• Supervisory or project management experience; 

• Excellent communication skills;

• An understanding of technical standards;

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;

• Strong commitment to customer service;

• A thorough understanding of electronic product licensing terms.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with the Alma library platform

Salary & benefits: $61,000 minimum, with hiring salary commensurate with 
experience and qualifications; no state or local income tax; 21 benefit days; 8 
study days; a range of retirement options including TIAA/CREF; health and life 
insurance and tuition waiver.
