Macs don't have drive designations like C: and G: etc. For saving to the Mac
itself you'd save to some folder in "Macintosh HD" - eg in Macintosh HD >
Users > [username] > Documents. Or on Desktop if you want to be a bit chaotic.

Assuming by "Text Editor" you mean TextEdit - that won't save as Word
because... well, it's not Word, it's just a super-simple text editing programme
that saves as .txt. Though you can save as PDF from File > Export as PDF.

In Pages, again the Save option lets you save as a Pages document. To save as
another format, go to File > Export to > Word/PDF. It'll then give you a simple
save dialogue with a dropdown box for the location you want to save in. If you
need to browse further to find your USB drive, click the extra arrow button to
the right of that and then in the left-hand column you'll be able to scroll
down to Locations which will have Macintosh HD and the USB drive among others.

Subject: [CODE4LIB] Mac Air - Saving text

My esteemed listmates,

I rarely use a Mac Air. I'm mostly on Windows 10.

Patron has some simple text she wanted printed from her Mac Air.

I opened Her Pages but you never see a destination drive choice like C:
drive or G: Drive (flash drive) in File Explorer of Windows.

Same deal with her Text Editor.

I inserted a flash rice to a USB adapter to her Mac Air and I seee the flash
drive by name but when you click on it does reveal folders on the flash but
you can't save th text as a Word or PDF - there's no format chcoes nore
doiectaintim drive letters.

Any idea how one can "save" otherise on a Mac Air?

Thanks,

Charles.
