The grim reality is we have three distinct systems at the moment: drupal, pwyky, trac and svn...each with their own authentication scheme...well trac and svn happen to share the same one.
It would be nice to move to a scenario where there was an openid layer that made this complexity go away. But we won't get there anytime soon I'm afraid...unless someone has some spare time.
