Job Category Faculty Number of Months per year Full-time Faculty Hours per week N/A Hiring Range Commensurate with Experience Summary Description of Position Simmons GSLIS invites applicants and nominations for an open-rank full-time tenure-track position. **RESPONSIBILITIES** Teach, conduct research, contribute to developing curriculum, and provide service to the College and the information professions. **AREAS OF SPECIALIZATION**: We seek faculty who conduct research and teach in the area where technology and information organization converge. Knowledge specialties may include, but are not limited to, the following: -semantic web and linked data technologies (e.g., RDF, RDFS, OWL, SKOS, microdata, other XML-based technologies) -metadata (including ontology, taxonomy, and schema development; knowledge organization systems; socially-constructed metadata) -social media technologies and management -discovery interfaces, faceted navigation tools, mobile apps, web-scale information systems The faculty may also teach in the core curriculum as needed. Salary is negotiable, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Opportunities to teach include: both master's and doctoral level courses; summer semesters; continuing education institutes; and at the GSLIS program at the Mount Holyoke College campus in South Hadley, Massachusetts. Experience in the area of designing and delivering online courses is highly desirable. Candidates who are hired without the doctoral degree will be expected to complete this degree within two years of their hiring date.
