**Salary** Commensurate with qualifications and experience. **Position Information** The California State University, Office of the Chancellor, is seeking a Digital Repository Services Manager to be responsible for the design, development, implementation, maintenance, and expansion of systemwide institutional repository and digital asset management services in support of campus-led digital library initiatives. The Manager will work closely with campus libraries and academic technology departments to define needs, set out best practices, and develop and maintain systems and tools to support institutional repository projects. The Manager will additionally work with other Systemwide Digital Library Services (SDLS) staff in support of discovery projects and initiatives. The headquarters for this position will be either the Chancellor's Office or a CSU Campus. **Responsibilities** Under general supervision, the Digital Repository Services Manager will: - Provide leadership and expertise in the installation and management of institutional repository and digital asset management software, with a current focus on DSpace. - Provide overall planning and management of the digital repository infrastructure of servers, storage, back-up and disaster recovery, including such systems as Atmos and Kaltura. - Work with Chancellor's Office Data Center staff to define and develop a supporting infrastructure for institutional repository systems and services, including compliance with CSU guidelines for application development, testing, security, and disaster recovery. - Collaborate with SDLS staff and consultants to customize applications to meet the various use cases and the specialized needs of each campus and academic technology group's repository. - In consultation with the CSU libraries and academic technology groups, identify new features and functionality needed to support CSU digital repositories. - Identify any gaps in process, documentation, or procedure, and provide solutions for these; in collaboration with SDLS staff, provide programming and other technical expertise for the department's discovery systems and projects. - Participate in various review committees to contribute knowledge and expertise; other duties as assigned. **Qualifications** This position requires a Master's degree in Library and Information Science, or a bachelor's degree and five years of progressively responsible information technology experience. The Manager works closely with librarians, administrators, and academic technology staff across the CSU to identify institutional repository needs. The incumbent will also manage the work of consultants and campus IT staff in the implementation and support of systemwide institutional repository and discovery projects, and therefore requires: - 5+ years of experience working in university libraries or academic technology departments - Experience in designing, delivering, and maintaining web applications in support of academic libraries - Knowledge of and experience working with library systems, with a preference given to experience working with institutional repository systems - Knowledge of and experience working with library metadata standards and protocols, including MARC and Dublin Core; strong creative, conceptual, and problem-solving skills - Strong oral and written communication skills. This position involves the research, design, development, and maintenance of open source systems.
