I've been working in isolation for a while on a book viewer, now soft launched at http://bcbib.library.ubc.ca . It is a tiling viewer like Diva, with some attempts at making it iPad-friendly. The site uses a CONTENTdm + ElasticSearch backend, but the viewer itself is agnostic about that stuff as long as the data server can speak its language (supply in-book search results, and provide tiles for a given document/page/x/y/scale/rotation). I'm a bit distracted on a different project now, but I wouldn't mind sharing the code as it is, if you're interested in adapting it.
