Emerging Technologies Librarian

The George Washington University Law School, Jacob Burns Law Library, located
in Washington, DC, seeks a qualified librarian for its emerging technologies
librarian position to begin as early as March 2, 2015. The librarian in this
position supports the enhancement of library services provided to students,
faculty, alumni, and other patrons through the evaluation and implementation
of library systems' user interfaces and emerging technologies.

  
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

-Provides vision and expertise for projects to investigate, test, and implement 
library system enhancements and emerging technologies that facilitate users' 
access to library resources and services;  
  
-Coordinates with other members of Information Services and with the systems 
librarian on implementing and maintaining the Webpac module of the integrated 
library system (ILS) and the related discovery tools;  
  
-Coordinates with other members of Information Services to provide technical 
support for library systems' user interfaces, including the ILS and systems 
used specifically for interlibrary loan and document delivery as well as 
administrative operations;  
  
-Participates in interdepartmental efforts to organize, evaluate, develop, and 
manage the Law Library's online information resources, including the web site, 
social media, and other web-based services and resources;  
  
-Participates in interdepartmental efforts to develop an online showcase for 
the library's collections and services;  
  
-Coordinates library stakeholders' evaluation of new technologies or library 
system enhancements;  
  
-Extracts data from library systems to produce statistical or other reports;  
  
-Maintains awareness of emerging or evolving technologies relevant to law 
library services through reading professional literature, monitoring online 
resources, and attending webinars and conferences;  
  
-Provides desktop publishing and graphic design support as related to web-based 
services and resources;  
  
-Shares knowledge and insight regarding emerging or evolving technologies 
relevant to law library services by providing regular updates to staff 
librarians;  
  
-Shares information with other campus libraries regarding the libraries' 
shared, parallel, and disparate systems;  
  
-Participates in reference and research services, including reference desk 
duties and the faculty liaison program; and  
  
-Assists the assistant director for information services and the head of 
electronic services with technology planning, project implementation, and other 
duties as assigned.
