recommendations, like nice books or tutorial (even video) about it? >>

I have used Virtuoso for some exploratory triple store research. It was
relatively easy to install on both PC as well as Unix/Unix-like systems. There
should be some pre-compiled installs available online. My one work of caution
about Virtuoso is that is has a lot of bells an whistles. This is not a huge
problem if you are just using it for basic triple store use but it does have
the potential to lead to an Oracle like scenario where you build applications
and services around the infrastructure and then find yourself unable to easily
migrate them into another triple store environment. That being said, Virtuoso
is by far the easiest triple store to manage, it has a very nice web-based user
interface.

If you want to test out a bare-bones triple store, I would suggest 4Store
(http://4store.org/). It has pre-compiled installs for Unix and Unix-like
systems (although not Windows). It supports SPARQL 1.1 and is relatively easy
to tweak/configure.

You can also use Pubby (http://wifo5-03.informatik.uni-mannheim.de/pubby/) as a
front-end user interface for viewing entities on the Web. DbPedia uses Pubby as
the front-end for their Virtuoso triple store.

I have used a 4Store and Pubby infrastructure for quite a few projects and
would be happy to help out with any questions. Since Pubby is relatively
universal, I could also help out with any Virtuoso/Pubby questions.

Thanks,

Subject: [CODE4LIB] Starting with Virtuoso - tutorial etc.

Hi everyone,

I am collecting some resources (beginner level) in order to start using
Virtuoso (OpenSource Edition) for a project I am working with.
I would like to use it both for hosting triples and for its sponger (CSV to RDF)
I sincerely never used it, but I would like to give it try. Do you have some
recommendations, like nice books or tutorial (even video) about it?
Thanks!

Nicola
