Cornell University Library's Digital Scholarship and Preservation Services
(DSPS) unit seeks a Digital Projects Librarian who will coordinate digital
collection projects and provide oversight for objectives of digital
preservation. Reporting to the Digital Curation Services Lead, the Digital
Projects Librarian will be an important member in the Digital Curation
Services team, which has as its mission to coordinate CUL's overall digital
preservation program and facilitate the creation of a cohesive service
framework. The incumbent will also coordinate or contribute to other projects
related to the creation, use, migration and/or management of digital assets.

  
Main responsibilities include:

  * Coordination/oversight of initiatives and projects in the Digital 
Consulting and Production Services (DCAPS) unit, a cross-department enterprise 
service comprised of experts to support digital scholarship initiatives for 
Cornell's faculty, staff and community partners. (30%)
  * Coordination/oversight of various projects relating to digital preservation 
and preservation repositories, including large scale ingests and the 
maintenance and development of emerging services. (30%)
  * Coordination/oversight of other project initiatives, e.g., migrations 
and/or new development efforts that involve cross departmental teams; 
anticipation and leveraging of inter-institutional repositories and 
inter-institutional cooperation, and the implementation/testing of emerging 
technologies to local efforts. (30%)
  * Involvement in professional development and program promotion and 
assessment (10%)
Required Qualifications

  * Master's degree or a higher advanced degree in library or information 
science or other relevant discipline.
  * Understanding of digital curation principles, standards, and best practices
  * Strong understanding of digital life cycle management issues and processes 
involved in developing and managing repositories from technical, business, 
communication, and policy perspectives.
  * Excellent project management skills with some experience in overseeing 
complex technology-based projects.
  * Ability to think imaginatively and develop effective and sustainable 
solutions in a highly complex and uncharted environment.
  * Excellent interpersonal/communication and facilitation skills to 
collaborate effectively with library staff, faculty, researchers, university 
administrators, and other stakeholders and constituents.
  * Ability to gather, analyze, and share findings effectively.
Preferred Qualifications

  * Experience with digital collection development and management workflows.
  * Competency in business planning for providing sustainable digital services.
  * Aptitude for learning technologies easily and IT experience as system 
administrator, web master, or programmer a plus.
  * Fluency in applications such as MS Access, SQL, other query languages, 
aptitude with MS Excel, including use of complex formulas and functions.
  * Ability to analyze/troubleshoot processes and remediate them.
  * Record of scholarly engagement and professional service, including 
presentations, publications.
