We switched to that in 2016 in the default build: https://www.codenameone.com/blog/switching-on-android-marshmallow-permission-prompts.html It's been there since the Android 6 migration and is a far better approach. You get prompted for permissions as you need them. So if your app has a camera feature that isn't used often a user can reject that permission but still use the app.
