Hi,

Although I can hardly claim coder status I hope I can ask for some
advice. I want to build a cross platform application for myself (linux
based), colleagues and students (Mac and Windows) to encode and mark up
audio (and possibly video) as annodex files. Needs to be GUI. I
originally thought I could get some money to get a professional to write
something (and this might well happen in the future) but for the next
six months or so, it's a coding project I'd like to pursue.

I spoke to Kfish a while back and he suggested XUL and firefox. I've
had a look at it, but due to my own experience/confidence (lack of?) am
increasingly heading towards something like Python (because there are
wrappers for annodex already) and wxwindows or FLTK.

At the moment the plan is to get people to mark up their own
field/research recordings, then I'll set up a local web server for
access by users with the Annodex firefox plugins for people to
search/listen/watch.

In the longer term, I'd like to think this could be an accessible
archiving and analysis solution for broader use (I'm applying for funds
to test something like this in the Solomon Islands, for example).

Ideas on cross platform/GUI/annodex sought!

Thanks,

Denis

ps If there were annodex wrappers for SuperCollider, I'd use that of course
:).
