Ken, it sounds like you've been drinking the microsoft coolaid. Your rules simply don't work for the embedded space where CPU and memory resources are limited. A large part of the embedded space nowadays is telephones and with phones like the OpenMoko the phone platfrom will be increasingly open. Programmers need to know how to code memory and CPU efficient apps when the platform demands small memory and CPU.
