That's what happened. The author pasted html text description from her Outlook mail into the topic description. I think the html mail uses 16 bit characters. The characters are not garbled in the mail, but when they are posted in the topic description, they looked garbled. I have also entered all sorts of UTF-8 characters and not run into this. I suspect if you copy paste html mail text from Outlook into topic description, the characters looked garbled. Most users here use Windows XP OS with complete shipped fixes. They also use Linux as development machines. Our servers use Solaris and Codestriker is installed on a Solaris server. We have put code to package Codestriker and also customize it to their requirements. It all works very well for us. The users like this tool very much. It saves them a lot of time. I suspected it would be outside the realm of Codestriker to handle html mail, but I wasn't perfectly sure. So, I asked. They have no problems entering regular text from their browsers and I'll ask them to do that. Are you saying the characters looked garbled when the author pasted the text into the create topic page? Or was the issue when displaying the topic description on the topic properties page? If it is the former - its really outside Codestriker. Somehow the OS you are on hasn't properly recorded the source characters with their encoding correctly. What OS are you on and which browser are you using? Codestriker handles UTF-8 as its default encoding, and I can cut-n-paste all sorts of characters sets without issue.
