It's true that what you described would normally not be a good approach, but that doesn't mean there couldn't be some situation or context that makes it viable. Before I write up a longer response with lots of advice or opinions in it, I like to be sure there isn't some crucial piece of the puzzle that I am not aware of, that's all. So I guess the message is: don't read that much into it....sometimes a question is just a question!
