July 16, 1999
Dear friends:
You have red the account of my vacation(?) from my children. Now, in a
minute, you
will read: "the rest of the story".
We arrived in Miami at 2.00 am on Saturday July 3rd., 1999. When I stepped
out of
the Van, I almost fainted and fell to the ground. I had a pain from my left
toe to my
rear end. It was a truly "p.i.a.". My left ankle, leg and thight were all
swollen and hard
as a rock. I couldn't barely walk. Nevertheless I managed to attend my grand
daughter's
baptism on July 3rd., even I was under a lot of pain.
Thanks God, the Godfather and his father are both physician. They took a look
at my
leg and they agreeded it was a blood circulation malfunction. A challenge to
meet
haead on. They took me to see a specialist and he RX "coumadin" (an
anti-coagulant)
and told me to see him at his office on Tuesday July 6, 1999.
July 6 came and I went to his office. He gave all kind of test and a complete
physical
check-up. The results showed: excess of water, a small heart circulation
"computer
virus" and lack of potassium in my blood. The Dr. ordered absolute rest, a
bandage
on the left leg and to have it raise in an up-right position all day and
night, no driving,
a minimun walk, and to use a cane when walking.
During the first week in Miami, the pain was umberable, worst than a tooth
ache. I
couldn't sleep, I had an awful headache, well you name it: I had it. In the
meantime
I was given blood test in order to know how well my blood was doing.
Thanks God, the thrombosis was of a superficial vein, and not a major one.
The situation
at the present time is simple(?) but if I not follow the Dr.'s orders could
be fatal, since a
blood clot could develops and a blood clot in a vein or artery is like a
bullet straight to
the heart, brain, or lung.
Today is Friday July 16, 1999, and I'm in my second week of recuperation
a.k.a.
"vacation". In the past week, every three days, I got blood test samples. The
left leg
is not that much swollen, and I have much less pain, for the first time I can
bend my left knee.
One thing good about my sickness is the fact that I have spent a lot of time
with the
family. I'm still on having blood tests. Today, Friday the 16, I went for
more.
The results of the tests will be ready by next Wednesday. I want to go back
to NJ.
as soon as next Thursday.
So far I'm resting confortable and doing nothing extrenous, as a matter of
fact: "nothing
at all". I spent some of the time reading and writing. My temper has calmed
down
considerably (surprise!!!!!)
I miss my little office at my house in NJ with the PC waiting for me,
to start again INFORMACION NEWS AGENCY.
I thank you all a thousand and + times for all your well wishes, prayers, and
phone calls
It has help me a lot with this new challenge.
Until my next email, God bless you all, and always remember:
